Another Holiday Card

My next two cards are fairly similar.  I liked how the first one turned out, but I was inspired to try in landscape as well. I think I like the second one better.

I started out by stamping snowflakes from Mama Elephant's Season's Greetings set in Memento Summer Sky, Teal Zeal, Lulu Lavender, and London Fog.  I used Ranger Liquid Platinum embossing powder to heat emboss the Happy sentiment from Mama Elephant's Happy Everything on top of the stamped snowflakes and the Holidays sentiment onto a scrap of white card stock which I cut out and used foam tap to mount over the y in Happy.  I finished the card off by mounting the while panel on some teal card stock.

For the second card I used the same stamps in the same colors, but with a landscape card instead of portrait.  Instead of Liquid Platinum embossing powder I used Ranger Princess Gold.  I also added strips of gold with my Pilot Gold Paint Marker and some Pretty Pink Posh 4mm sparkling clear sequins.  I really like both cards, but I think the gold edging and sequins really make the second one shine.

More Holiday Cards

Today I was feeling very crafty.  I managed to make 5 cards.  I think that is a record for me, by far.  I wanted to get finished with my Holiday card swap cards as well as the ones I am sending in for Jennifer McGuire and Vera Yate's Caring Hearts Drive.

My first card, uses the Memory Box Winter Tiny Snowflakes stencil with embossing paste on blue cardstock.  Next I used Memento Tuxedo Black ink to stamp Mama Elephant's Arctic Penguins - one penguin, some ice, and a present.  I used the coordinating cuts to die cut each image and my Copics to color them.  I added a little sparkle to my ice block with my clear Wink of Stella brush.  I used foam tape to mount them on the card.  To finish off I used a sentiment from Clearly Besotted's Sweet Little Sentiments, stamped in Versamark Ink, heat embossed in Ranger Silver embossing powder on some vellum.

Believe in the Magic of Christmas

I decided to attempt my first shaker card last night.  To start I used the stitched rectangle from Mama Elephant's Femme Frames and the die cut for the snow globe from Mama Elephant's Believe in Magic coordinating dies to cut out the center panel.  The red panel was die cut with the scalloped die in the Femme Frames set.  I stamped one of the bases for the snow globe in Versamark Ink and heat embossed with Ranger Liquid Platinum embossing powder.  I used a Versamark pen and Ranger Liquid Platinum embossing powder to outline the snow globe opening.  I stamped the sentiment in Memento Tuxedo black ink.  For the inside of the snow globe I used blue water color for the background with clear Wink of Stella.  I stamped and die cut the skyline and reindeer and glued them to the background.  I used Memento London Fog to stamp the water bubble.

I had trouble putting the shaker card together.  First, I forgot the clear panel, so I had to redo the foam tape on the back of the white panel.  Then I tried to attach the background to the white front panel without the Pretty Pink Posh 4mm Sparkling Clear sequins!  When I finally did get the sequins in there, I accidentally taped the whole front panel to my craft mat!

After all the madness I finally got it put together.  I think it turned out pretty cute, but I didn't realize how much effort shaker cards took.

Mama Elephant Challenge

I'm making cards to send it to the Caring Hearts Card Drive hosted by Jennifer McGuire and Vera Yates.  For this card I used several strips of patterned paper and my Mama Elephant Carnival Cupcake critters.  I colored each of the critters with my Copic markers and cut them out using their coordinating dies.  I used the Santa hat from the Mama Elephant Arctic Penguins set for each of the critters.  I mounted one critter on each of the strips with foam tape.  Last I heat embossed the sentiment from Mama Elephant's Believe in Magic stamp set with Ranger Princess Gold embossing powder.

More Dachshunds!

Today's card uses the Newton's Nook Holiday Hounds stamp set and is going to be a Christmas card for my Grandmother who also has dachshunds.  The cute stamp with the dachshund in the stocking inspired me to create a fireplace background on which to hang the dachshund stockings.  I didn't have any fireplace stamps, so I decided to draw my own.  I looked around on Pinterest for some inspiration.  I used Copic Multiliners to draw the fireplace around the three dachshund stockings I stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black ink.  I then used my Copic markers to color in the wood, bricks, fire, and stockings.  I used my Wink of Stella clear brush pen to add some shimmer to the fire.  I cut out a simple white tag for the sentiment which was stamped in Versamark Ink and embossed with Ranger Princess Gold embossing powder.

New Stamps!

I was so excited when I saw the new Newton's Nook Holiday Hounds stamp set on Simon Say Stamp.  I haven't really seen Newton's Nook stamps before but the moment I saw the Holiday Hounds set I knew I had to have it and ordered it immediately.  I have 3 dachshunds and I don't know what I would do without them.  I love all dachshunds, they are just soooo cute!

My oldest, almost 11, is Snickers, a black and tan dapple!

Next is sweet Caramel, 8, who is a red brindle.  I just love those stripes!

Last, is my sweet adopted Charlie, a longhair with endless energy!

I just got the stamps in the mail today and I just had to make a card even though I had planned to work on my London scrapbook.  To start, I created the background using Ranger Distress Inks and the blending tool.  Next I cut some white paper with my Pretty Pink Posh Stitched Borders 1 die to create some snow.  I stamped the dachshund with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored with my Copic markers.  Then I fussy cut him out and outlined the cutout with a black sharpie.  I added white heat embossed snowflakes to the background and clear Wink of Stella to the snow for some sparkle. To finish, I mounted the dachshund with foam tape and stamped the sentiment with Memento Tuxedo black ink.
